How to Calculate the Latest Late Payment Fine for Vehicle Tax

One of them is spreading the issue that if you are late in paying vehicle tax for just one day, the fine is the same as being late for a year. This certainly worries vehicle owners who are late in paying their vehicle tax. To avoid falling for this issue, you must know how to calculate the amount of the fine if you are late in paying vehicle tax as follows.

Generally, the late payment fine for vehicle tax is charged at 25% for a year. If you are only late for a few months, you only need to divide the annual fine amount by the number of months you are in arrears. To understand better, you need to pay attention to the following example.

Before you calculate the amount of the late payment fine for the tax, you need to memorize the following formula. 

Formula for calculating late payment fines for vehicle tax = PKB x 25% x (number of months in arrears divided by 12 months) + SWDKLLJ fine.

1. How to calculate the late vehicle tax fine for 2 months

Suppose your vehicle tax (PKB) is Rp1,500,000, and the SWDKLLJ fine is Rp100,000. If you are late in paying the vehicle tax for two months, you are required to pay the following fine amount. 

Formula: PKB x 25% x (number of months in arrears divided by 12 months) + SWDKLLJ fine

Rp1,500,000 x 25% x 2/12 + Rp100,000 = Rp162,000

So you need to pay Rp162,000 if you are late in paying the tax for 2 months.

2. How to calculate the late payment fine for vehicle tax for 6 months

If you are late in paying the tax for up to 6 months, the method is the same as above. You just need to replace the number of months you are in arrears. To understand better, let’s look at the following calculation.

Formula: PKB x 25% x 6/12 + Rp100,000 =?

Rp1,500,000 x 25% x 6/12 + Rp100,000 = Rp287,500. 

3. How to calculate the late payment fine for vehicle tax for 1 year

For being late in paying tax for 1 year, the method is also the same. You just need to replace the number of months of your tax arrears.

Formula: PKB x 25% x 12/12 + Rp.100,000 = ? 

Rp1,500,000 x 25% x 12/12 + Rp100,000 = Rp475,000

4. How to calculate the late payment fine for vehicle tax for 2 years

For the next calculation, the method remains the same.

Formula: PKB x 25% x 24/12 + Rp100,000 = ?

Rp1,500,000 x 25% x 24/12 = Rp100,000 = Rp850,000

This method applies according to the multiple of how many months you are in arrears on the tax.
