All motor vehicles and cars require a battery to support electrical components, such as starters, car lights, horns, etc. With this vehicle battery, all these electrical components can function properly. Before proceeding to how to make a car battery charger, the first step you need to take is to prepare the materials and tools. Among the materials you need is a transformer or trafo with a minimum size of 5 to 15 amperes. 

In addition, you will also need a bridge diode, an electrolytic capacitor, a set of fuses, and single wire. There are also additional materials, namely a pair of battery clips in red and black, nuts and bolts as needed, and a box. 

For this box, you can make it yourself using wood or metal plates. As for the tools, you only need wire cutters, a soldering iron, and solder in the amount adjusted to your needs.

Steps to Assemble a Car Battery Charger

Once all the materials and tools you need are available, the next step is how to make a car battery charger. There are several assembly models you can do to create this charger. The first stage in this process is to assemble the primary winding of the charger. 

You should know that in assembling this winding part, there are usually two PLN cables. For the first cable, you can connect it directly to the transformer marked 240 volts. 

As for the second cable, you can connect it to the fuse. In this case, the output from the fuse to the transformer is usually marked with the number 0.

After this stage, the battery charger can usually be used immediately, but sometimes it cannot. In this case, if the charger assembly you made cannot be used, you need to add an ampere meter indicator. 

Connect the positive cable from the diode to the positive symbol on the ampere meter. Next, connect the negative ampere connector to the battery for charging. The second model is to assemble a charger for two batteries, without using a switch. 

In this type, you only need to move the cables if you want to charge two batteries. You need a transformer with a minimum size of 5 amperes and a 35 ampere diode for making a car battery charger.

Because it is often used, it is possible for the vehicle battery to run out quickly. To address this, the vehicle battery needs to be recharged using a charger. 

However, buying one directly will certainly incur a lot of costs. Therefore, the best solution is to assemble the battery charger independently.
