The latest cars now come equipped with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) features. So what does this feature mean? To help you understand it better, let's take a look at the following explanation.

What is EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution)?

EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) is a technology found in car braking features, similar to Anti-Brake System (ABS) and Brake Assist (BA). EBD is designed to distribute and allocate braking force to all wheels of the car according to driving conditions or needs. For instance, when turning, the braking force required between the left and right wheels differs.

A similar situation occurs when the car is carrying a heavy load; the braking force needed for the front wheels and rear wheels is different. The EBD feature will control the distribution of hydraulic pressure in the braking system at each wheel according to driving conditions or needs.

Components of EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution)

For the EBD feature to function properly, it is influenced by several components within it. Here are the complete components.

1. Speed sensor

This component functions to provide information to the ECU or Electronic Control Unit regarding the rotation speed. Thus, if the car experiences wheel slip, the problem is immediately detected by the sensor. The information is then sent to the ECU, which will provide braking instructions. The magnitude of the braking force will be adjusted according to the needs of each wheel.

2. ECU (Electronic Control Unit)

This component functions to send signals or information from the speed sensor to the brake force modulator. Later, the ECU will function to distribute pressure or braking force according to the needs of each wheel.

3. Brake force modulator

This component acts as a distributor of pressure or braking force coming from the ECU.

EBD Feature (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) in Daihatsu Cars

Similar to the ABS feature, the EBD feature is also embedded by Daihatsu in the cars marketed. Starting from the Daihatsu Grand New Xenia, Daihatsu Luxio, to other Daihatsu cars. The use of the EBD feature in Daihatsu cars certainly has the following purposes.

1. Enhancing safety and driving comfort

The use of the EBD feature in Daihatsu cars aims to enhance the safety and comfort of the driver while driving. As is known, the braking system of a car is the most vital system in driving. If the braking system does not function properly, it can be assured that the car cannot be controlled when trying to reduce speed.

With EBD, braking efficiency can be optimized without reducing vehicle control. Thus, the driver will not lose control of the car, minimizing the risk of oversteer.

2. Stabilizing the car's speed

The use of EBD in Daihatsu cars can support the performance of the ABS feature, allowing the car's speed to remain stable when going uphill or on slippery roads.

Considering the important role of EBD in safety and driving comfort, you should pay attention to the condition of this EBD feature. To maintain this EBD, you can add or replace brake fluid regularly to ensure the braking system is not hard.

Speaking of brake fluid, make sure to use high-quality and original brake fluid like Daihatsu Brake Fluid DOT-3 Super Heavy Duty. You can obtain this brake fluid by visiting the nearest Daihatsu workshop.
