To ensure that drivers and passengers feel comfortable when passing through damaged or uneven road surfaces, car manufacturers create suspension systems that include various components, including car shock absorbers. Below, several of these components will be explained along with their functions to help you better understand their importance. Here are the complete components.

Complete Components of Front and Rear Car Shock Absorbers and Their Functions

As previously explained, shock absorbers are part of the car suspension system components. The suspension system is designed to reduce shocks caused by the friction of the wheels with damaged roads.

This suspension system will dampen those shocks by utilizing the movement of the shock absorber that follows the wheel's bounce. The shock absorber components are divided into two groups based on their location, namely the front and rear. To help you understand better, let's take a look at the following review.

Components of Front Car Shock Absorbers

There are several components of front car shock absorbers that you should know. Here are the complete components.

1. Oil Seal

This component functions as an oil cover to prevent oil leakage from the fork slider.

2. Dust Seal

This component acts as a barrier to prevent dirt or dust from entering the fork slider, which can cause scratches and shorten the lifespan of the fork slider.

3. Fork Slider

This component serves as a container for the oil or fluid of the shock absorber.

4. Stopper Ring

This component functions as a holder for the oil seal to keep it in position and prevent it from moving upwards.

5. Reaction Spring

This component acts as a damper and distributor of shock energy to the wheels when the car is driving on uneven surfaces.

6. Fork Push

This component serves as a divider for the movement space of the upper and lower fork pistons. This way, the oil or fluid of the shock absorber can be channeled to the upper or lower part of the piston. This working mechanism is similar to that of a piston.

7. Fork Tube

This component serves as a provider of space or separator within the tube and the fork slide.

Components of Rear Car Shock Absorbers

Here are some components of rear car shock absorbers that you need to know.

1. Shock Absorber Seal

This component functions to prevent fluid leakage inside the shock absorber.

2. Orifice

This component regulates the one-way movement of fluid. This component plays an important role in the suspension produced by the shock absorber, as it can be considered a determinant of whether the suspension is hard or soft.

The shape of this component resembles a small hole channel found in piston components. The shape of the channel affects the suspension result; if the channel is small, the suspension produced will be hard. This hard suspension is usually used for racing cars. Conversely, if the channel is large, the suspension produced will feel soft.

3. Shock Absorber Tube

This component serves as the housing or container for the fluid and piston when it moves.

4. Piston

Although it shares the same name, this component is different from the engine compression piston. The shock absorber piston is located inside the shock absorber and serves as the actuator of the shock absorber.

This component also contains another component known as the piston rod. This component determines the rhythm of the piston’s up and down movement according to the movement of the car's wheels.

By reading the above review, you now recognize the various components found in car shock absorbers along with their functions. Don't forget to always check the condition of these components to ensure that the car's suspension system functions properly.

If any of these components are worn out, immediately replace them at the nearest Daihatsu workshop to maintain your driving comfort and avoid counterfeit components.
