More Practical, Here's How to Check the Injection Car Coil That You Can Try

Not only playing an important role in gasoline engine vehicles, the coil or ignition coil also has a significant responsibility in fuel-injected four-wheeled vehicles. The coil functions to channel the high-voltage electricity generated by the secondary winding at the command of the ECU to the spark plug. To keep it in good condition, you should perform the following checks on the fuel-injected car coil.

1. Prepare the Necessary Tools

Before checking the coil on your beloved vehicle, first prepare some necessary tools. First, prepare a good condition spark plug that can function normally and is of the same type as the spark plug in your beloved car. If unavailable, you need to remove one of the spark plugs that are already installed in the car.

Also prepare several wrenches to open the coil of the four-wheeled vehicle. Next, disconnect all injector sockets directly from the injector.

You can also remove the relay specifically for the injector to prevent fuel spraying during the inspection process. Then pull the handbrake and shift the gear lever to neutral.

2. Invite Someone to Help You

When you are going to check the car coil, try to ask for help from someone close to you. This is certainly aimed at making it easier for you to check the condition of the spark plug coil in the vehicle. Not only that, the presence of another person can also help you in starting the engine during the inspection process.

3. Disconnect All Injector and Spark Plug Coil Wires

After asking for help from someone close, next open the hood of the car. Then look for the injector socket located in the engine compartment.

Disconnect all injector sockets along with the relay from the main injector. This is to prevent fuel spraying during the inspection process.

Once the sockets are disconnected, find a 10mm wrench or according to the size of the spark plug coil bolts on your vehicle. Then remove all coils from the car.

It is important to remember, when doing this, do not disconnect the coil wire from the spark plug. You should also do this slowly and carefully.

4. Install the Prepared Spark Plug

After removing all the coils, the next step is to install the spark plug to check the condition of the spark plug coil. You can install the spark plug that you prepared earlier onto the coil that has been removed from the engine. The way is to hold the back part of the coil near the socket and then attach the body of the spark plug to the engine body to get grounding.

5. Start the Engine

For this step, you can ask your friend to try to start the vehicle's engine. This should be done while you are holding the coil with the spark plug attached to the engine body. Then the last way to check the car coil is to observe the spark that comes out of the spark plug to see if it lights up properly.
