Fungsi Lampu Rem Belakang Mobil dan Komponennya

The rear brake lights of a car are an important lighting component that can reduce the risk of accidents. However, these lights are often taken for granted and are frequently left off. In fact, if you understand their true function, you will no longer underestimate these lights. Here are the complete functions.

Function of Rear Brake Lights

One type of car light is the rear brake light, often referred to as the brake lamp or brake light. This light has several functions as follows.

1. Avoiding Accidents

The brake light has the primary function of preventing car accidents. How can this be? Because the light will turn on when you brake the car.

This way, other drivers behind you can reduce their vehicle speed. Thus, other drivers can maintain a safe distance to avoid crashing into the back of your car, thereby preventing the risk of accidents.

2. Enhanced Safety

Your safety while driving is also better maintained. When you brake the car, there will be a change in color in the brake light. As you know, the brake light has a dimmer illumination compared to the lights installed on the roadside.

When you brake the car, the brake light becomes brighter. This can signal other drivers behind you, even if they are a bit far away. Especially if you are driving at night. Thus, your safety level is more assured with the presence of the brake light.

Components Found in the Rear Brake Light of a Car

Here are some components found in the brake light that allow it to function properly.

1. Fuse

Inside the brake light, there is a component called a fuse. As you know, a fuse can prevent short circuits in the car's electrical system.

2. Battery

In addition to the fuse, there is also a battery component. This component serves as a power source to illuminate the car's lighting system as a whole.

The battery here refers to the car battery, which supplies and stores electrical power. When the driver brakes the car, the battery automatically sends electricity to the brake light.

3. Wires

In addition to these two components, wires are also part of the brake light that play a crucial role. This component functions to conduct electricity from one component to another, including the brake light. This component is quite numerous in the car's brake light circuit.

4. Brake Switch

The brake switch, also known as the brake light switch, serves to connect and disconnect the electrical current from the battery to the load.

This component consists of two types, namely hydraulic switches and mechanical switches. The hydraulic switch is usually installed on the master brake cylinder component.

The hydraulic switch will function when the brake fluid pressure reaches between 0.5 bar and 1.5 bar in the master brake cylinder.

Meanwhile, the mechanical switch is usually installed on the brake pedal. The mechanical switch will automatically function when the driver presses the brake pedal.

5. Brake Light

The brake light is the main component that produces light when braking the car. This component is usually located in the city light or rear light of the car. This component typically uses a bulb with two filaments that will light up when there is a heat conduction from the electrical current when the brake pedal is pressed.

6. Brake Pedal

The brake pedal, besides being used to brake the car, is also used to turn on the brake light. To activate the brake light, you need to press the brake pedal.

Considering its crucial function, always check the condition of the rear brake lights of your car. If they are off, immediately replace the damaged components by visiting the nearest Daihatsu workshop or dealer.
