Knowing when to change the manual transmission oil in a car is important. This oil has a very vital function in the car. So what are the functions of this oil? And what signs should be observed to determine the right time to change the transmission oil? Let's find out the answers by paying attention to the following review.

Functions of Manual Transmission Oil

Transmission oil for manual transmission cars can be said to have a function that is quite important, just like other car lubricants. However, not many car owners pay attention to the condition of the oil and whether it needs to be replaced or not. Let's find out what the functions of transmission oil are for manual transmission cars so that you as a car owner can pay more attention to the replacement time. Here are the complete functions.

1. As a lubricant between manual transmission components

The main function of transmission oil for manual cars is to act as a lubricant between manual transmission components. The purpose of providing this lubricant is to minimize excessive friction between the manual transmission components while working.

Thus, the lifespan of manual transmission components is much longer and less prone to wear. Not only that, but gear shifting will also feel lighter when the driver changes the transmission lever.

2. Improves engine performance

The next function is to improve engine performance. As is known, each oil has its own usage limit. If it is time to change but is not replaced, it can cause gear shifting to become heavy, the exhaust to emit a lot of black smoke, and make the engine work harder.

With regular oil changes, the additives contained in the oil can clean dirt and dust that enter the engine. This way, the transmission and engine components are protected from corrosion. This certainly has a significant impact on the performance produced by the car's engine.

3. Prevents engine failure

The next function is that transmission oil in manual cars can prevent engine failure. This is certainly very beneficial for car owners when they want to sell the car. Because a well-maintained engine condition can affect the resale value of the car.

Signs That Manual Transmission Oil Needs to Be Replaced

Considering its important function in maintaining the manual transmission system and engine performance, transmission oil replacement must be done regularly and periodically to keep the car in optimal condition when used. So when should the oil be replaced? To know more, let's pay attention to the following signs.

1. When the car has traveled approximately 20,000-25,000 km

The first sign that transmission oil for manual transmission cars needs to be replaced is when the car has traveled approximately 20,000-25,000 km. As a car owner, you must know this mileage limit so that the car components are always well maintained.

Although generally in the standard manufacturer’s manual, oil replacement is done when the car reaches 40,000 km. However, according to mechanics, replacing at a mileage of 20,000-25,000 is considered to extend the lifespan of the car's transmission components and improve engine performance.

2. The oil has changed color

The second sign can be seen from the change in oil color, which originally was a reddish light color has turned black. If this color change occurs, it is best to replace it immediately because the oil quality has decreased and has become too thick. If left unchecked, it can accelerate the wear of the transmission components.

3. Noise from the transmission

The third sign is that the transmission will emit a loud noise because the quality of the oil as a lubricant has decreased. This causes significant friction between transmission components, resulting in vibration and noise in the transmission

If these signs are present in your car, it is advisable to replace the transmission oil immediately. For the right oil replacement, you can visit the nearest Daihatsu workshop. In this workshop, you will be provided with high-quality transmission oil such as Daihatsu Genuine Oil Sae 80W Api GI4. This oil will take good care of the car's transmission components, thereby improving engine performance during maneuvers.
