Do You Know How to Adjust the Car Carburetor to Be More Fuel Efficient?

The carburetor is one of the important components of a car, as it is responsible for atomizing the fuel which is then processed into power to operate the vehicle's engine. 

In other words, the carburetor plays a crucial role in enhancing the driver's comfort. But how do you adjust the car's carburetor to be fuel-efficient?

1. Prepare the Necessary Tools

The first step to adjusting the carburetor for fuel efficiency is to prepare a number of supporting tools first. 

These tools include paper tissue, pliers, and a flat screwdriver. Fortunately, some of the tools that need to be prepared are basic tools that every vehicle owner should have.

2. Adjust the Fuel and Air Mixture

Once all the tools are prepared, make sure that the vehicle's engine is in the off position and open the hood. 

To locate the air filter, please use the screws and start removing the air filter completely as part of the way to adjust the car's carburetor for fuel efficiency.  

Once you successfully open the air filter, start looking for the screw that functions to adjust the air. Be careful not to confuse it with the other screw that has a different function. 

Turn the screw using a flat screwdriver so that the fuel and air mixture inside the carburetor blends perfectly and is balanced. 

If it feels sufficient, please start the vehicle's engine and wait until it reaches normal temperature by checking the temperature gauge. After that, try pressing the gas pedal while listening to the sound produced by the engine. 

When the RPM number is quite high and the engine produces a pinging sound, it indicates that the air and fuel mixture is too lean.

3. Adjust the Screws Correctly

The next step is to adjust both screws to mix the two materials until they have the perfect ratio, by turning the screws slowly and placing them in the right position. 

Turn both screws counterclockwise before gradually adjusting the next turn.  

After that, tighten the screws again until the engine sounds smoother than before. 

When the engine sound is not too rough, please reinstall the air filter in its original position. Isn't this way to adjust the car's carburetor for fuel efficiency quite easy to apply?

4. Adjust the Idle Speed 

It turns out that the task is not finished there, as you need to adjust the idle speed first to achieve optimal results. 

First, please find the gas cable along with its adjustment screw by tracing it from the gas pedal to the engine's carburetor. 

Please start the vehicle until it reaches normal temperature, as the heat generated by the engine makes the adjustment process run optimally. 

Then tighten the screw that functions to adjust the gas by turning it counterclockwise, but make sure the turn does not exceed half a turn or more. 

If you do not notice any change in sound, please perform a re-adjustment as a solution to the way to adjust the car's carburetor for fuel efficiency. Before re-adjusting, wait about 30 seconds to avoid shocking the engine.
