Let's Follow 4 Correct Ways to Disassemble a Car Engine

A vehicle cannot always operate optimally every time it is used. Sometimes, the vehicle experiences an engine drop, a condition where the engine in the vehicle must be dismantled. 

When your beloved vehicle experiences such a situation, it is best to take it to an official service center. Therefore, the following will discuss the correct way to dismantle a car engine.

1. Removing the Car Hood

The most important thing before dismantling the engine is to remove the hood. The hood is where various components of the car are located. Remove several bolts connecting the hood to the car. 

Don't forget to mark the hinge bolts to make it easier for you when reassembling later. When removing the hood, you can ask for assistance from an assistant. Make sure you remove it slowly and then store it in a safe place. 

Disconnect several electrical connections found on the hood. Usually, the electrical connections that are disconnected are channels for lighting such as headlights, turn signals, and fog lights.

2. Start Removing Some External Engine Components

The next step in dismantling the car engine is to start removing some external components from the engine. First, disconnect the ground connection on the battery and then drain the radiator fluid and its hose.

This is to ensure your safety when dismantling the engine. When draining the fluid, be careful not to damage the metal clamps.

Then carefully remove the radiator fan and its cover (if any). The aluminum fins in the radiator are easily damaged. Other parts such as the alternator, tightening assemblies, cooling fans, and belts also need to be removed. 

Not only that, but also remove the air intake and fuel hoses found on the car. You should know that there are some cars with pressurized fuel, so you need to drain the fuel and relieve the pressure. 

When opening the bolts of the power steering pump and AC compressor in this car engine dismantling process, try to do it without removing the hoses to save time.

3. Disconnecting All Electrical Connections on the Engine

After removing several external components of the engine, the next step is to disconnect all electrical connections connected to the vehicle's engine. In this case, you can still leave the spark plugs in place. 

However, make sure that the exhaust and electrical connections on the transmission have been disconnected. Only then can the transmission be removed calmly.

4. Lifting the Engine with a Hoist

As is known, every engine component in the car is connected with several bolts. 

Therefore, first remove several bolts inside, especially the bolts that hold the transmission bell on the engine using special tools. 

After that, the next step in dismantling the car engine is to lift the engine located in the car hood using a hoist.

Vehicles that are frequently used will certainly experience engine drops that require the engine to be dismantled. This dismantling can only be done by technicians at workshops or official service centers. 

When the performance produced by your beloved vehicle is no longer optimal, it may be a sign of an engine drop.
